Turn pet care into an executive functioning support—not another overwhelming to-do list.
The Pet Care Quest Log is a one-page, ADHD- and neurodivergent-friendly worksheet designed to help clients connect caring for their pets with routines, executive functioning skills, and their own wellbeing.
Pet care naturally involves many executive functioning demands: remembering recurring responsibilities, initiating tasks, planning ahead, noticing environmental cues, managing time, and following through. This worksheet makes those demands more visible while offering practical supports that can make them easier to navigate.
The included pet-care “quest log” covers common responsibilities such as feeding, refreshing water, grooming, cleaning pet areas, play or connection time, and medications or veterinary needs. Each task is paired with a suggested frequency and an executive-function-friendly cue or tool, plus a checkbox for completion.
The worksheet also introduces practical strategies such as:
- pairing pet care with an existing habit
- keeping supplies where they will actually be used
- using visual or environmental cues
- setting phone reminders
- using color-coded sticky notes
Rather than emphasizing perfect adherence, the resource encourages enough consistency to support both the client and their pet.
Great for: ADHD and executive functioning work, neurodivergent adolescents and adults, independent living skills, behavioral activation, routine building, task initiation, pet owners, and clients who are more motivated by caring for their animals than traditional planners or chore charts.
Includes: 1-page printable PDF worksheet.
