Make ADHD and executive functioning assessment feel a little less clinical—and a lot more understandable.
Clients may complete multiple questionnaires, interviews, and assessment tools without fully understanding what each one measures or why it is being used. This two-page psychoeducational handout provides an approachable, client-friendly introduction to three tools that may be used when exploring ADHD, executive functioning, and sensory processing.
The resource introduces:
Brown Executive Function/Attention Scales — explains executive functioning areas including organizing and prioritizing, focusing and shifting attention, alertness and energy, emotional regulation, working memory, and monitoring actions and performance.
Sensory Profile 2 — introduces sensory processing differences such as sensitivity and avoidance, sensory seeking, under-responsiveness, and the ways sensory experiences can affect attention, behavior, and emotional regulation.
DIVA 2.0 (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults) — explains how the structured interview explores ADHD symptoms and real-life experiences across childhood and adulthood.
Rather than presenting assessment as simply a process of assigning a diagnosis, the handout emphasizes using these tools to build clarity, understanding, and supports that fit the individual.
Reflection spaces throughout the resource also give clients an opportunity to connect assessment concepts with their own experiences.
Great for: ADHD assessment and screening, neurodivergent-affirming therapy, executive functioning work, adult ADHD exploration, assessment feedback, psychoeducation, and clinicians who want clients to better understand the purpose behind the tools they are completing.
Includes: 2-page printable PDF.
